A sign every woman needs by her font door...

The things we cherish

Today I am sharing with you a corner in my kitchen. I used to play with the tall flag in my Grandma's attic. When we bought our first home I asked my Grandma if I could have that old flag. As usual she shook her head in disbelief that I would even want it. The flag is just one of many wonderful things that I have and cherish of my Grandma's. In the fore front there is a tall bucket that houses many old cemetery flags. Long may she wave~

Deal of the day!

This is a corner in my upstairs hallway. I just love this old wicker chair that I got at a fall tag sale. The quilts on the ladder mean so much to me. I got them from a family auction after no one would bid on them. Can you believe this? I got big ol' pile of them for $1.00 talk the about a deal of the day!

It's Lane's day!

My 6 year old son just loves potatoes. He would eat them everyday if his mom would agree and make them for him! Lane wanted me to share one of his favorite potato recipes with you. This recipe is from your family cookbook, Sharing Our Best.
Cheesy Hash Brown Bake
2 lbs. frozen has browns (1 bag)
1 c. chopped onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 pt. sour cream
1 stick melted butter
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp. salt
1 c. corn flakes
Mix all together. Top with 1 cup crumbled corn flakes mixed with 1/4 cup butter. Bake at 350 for 1 hour in a greased 9x13" pan.

Something new comes this way!

I am so excited to share some great news with you all~ I will be expanding my booth at The Shed. What does this mean for all of you? More Kendra & Co. primitives, more goodies for your house and yard!!! I will be filling the booth to the brim with all sorts of new items that I've been working on. I can't wait for you to stop in and see it! If there is anything in particular that you are looking for send me an email and I just may have it! On the sad side, my "Prim Chick" friend will be leaving our booth at the end of the month She is moving on to new adventures and needs to say thanks for the fun and good bye.
So if your wondering why you hear Kendra & Co. one minute and Prim Chicks the next let me explain... Kendra & Co. is the name of my store, which is now run from my home. I am still working hard to get my building open on our farm for you to shop at. For now you can find Kendra & Co. at The Shed just east of Altoona on Mayer Rd. (AA) My booth at The Shed is called Prim Chicks. Give me a holler if you would like to see the booth also called Kendra & Co. or if you like it just the way it is.
Can't wait to hear what you think!

Today our family lost a precious pillar in our family; my husbands grandma. Our kids like to refer to her as Grandma Cookie! Yep you guessed it, she makes the best cookies in the world. Grandma was soft spoken, very intelligent, and still working at our town library at 90 years old. Grandma loved the lord with all her heart and this brings us so much peace. She will be missed very much.

Keep'n my nose to the grind stone!

While waiting to reopen the store here at home...
I'm staying busy these days keeping my booth at THE SHED full of the great prims that you all like so much. I share my space with a friend so you just never know what she may bring in too!
When I need a prim break I've been repainting my son and daughter's rooms. I know what your thinking- "didn't you just paint them less than 2 years ago?" The answer is yes. However the paint in my son's room has faded so bad that my hating what shade that it became forced me to! Never buy Conco paint. My daughter on the other had just wanted a change. Girls!!! My two day painting extravaganza has my not quite 40 year old body screaming that it's not as young and in shape as it once was! This leads me to ask... what projects next?

Update:

Well, today is a new day and the planning and hard work continues. Our Electric company is here as I type. Since the frozen ground is no longer on my side to move the school house across the field; we have no choice but to take...the high road!!! I've gotta keep my sense of humor during this transition! Hopefully the gentlemen have come with great news for lifting the power lines so we can move the school house down the road.

A BIG Change!

A big change at Kendra & Co! I have closed our downtown store location to move it home to our 154 year old farm! Our farm is located one mile east of Fall Creek on Hwy 12 behind Weaver's store. My husband and I have been restoring our farm for over 3 years now. We began with gutting the house to update it and using great care in putting it back together with all the original wood trim. The barn has also been a labor of love. It was lifted up and the entire first floor replaced. These are just a few projects we are trying to complete. On a visit to our farm you will be greeted by our two goats, Lily and Miley. We also have horses, cows, chickens, cats, dogs and kids! I have been working hard to get the store back open very soon. Kendra & Co's new home will be in the 100 year old Green Meadow school house. The school is being moved across the field to our farm. Moving the school means saving the school. I am so excited for all of you see Kendra & Co's new home and this great school house! I will be blogging all the updates and posting pictures of the building as it's being moved and so much more. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition.

A few of our favorite things~

Perhaps it's something discovered on a dusty shelf of an antiques shop or buried on a box at a flea market. Or maybe it was bought with a winning bid at an auction or found at Kendra & Co. One of the joys of collecting is the thrill of pursuit. We understand the passion of collectors and how the finding is a kind of self discovery!

More Clutter Control Advise!

After spring cleaning, maintain household order with a well organized front hall or back entry. Provide a home for shoes: maybe a old wooden box or even a bushel basket. For jackets: a tall pantry cupboard or hang them on an old board with nails/hooks. For paper, mail, keys, and glasses: old wooden boxes (with or without dividers) and baskets work great. Dirt won't travel so fast, important items won't get misplaced, and your home will make a better first impression!

Clutter Control

Boxes, baskets and containers shouldn't be hidden away. Look for prim stowaways, there's potential in everything!

Time for a change!

It's that time again. Time to tear apart the store and redecorate for a new look. It may be very cold outside but you will warm up as soon as you walk in and see all the new spring prim goodies! I will be adding new all the time until we change to the next season!
Stay warm and see you soon!

Last chance to shop the CLEARANCE tables!

That's right, this is the last week to shop the clearance tables. There is still plenty left because I did like I said and kept finding more for the tables as things sold!
February will be kicked off with a fresh new look for the store. New items and new candles. Stop on in soon to see all the great new prim items that I've been creating just for February.
Also I wanted to mention that I took many new items to our booth at The Shed too. Look for the "Prim Chicks" booth!
Blessings to all~

It's always so sad to take down all the Christmas decorations and unplug the last of the twinkling lights. Not to mention how bare the house tends to look when all is put away. Stop on in sometime... I just finished this great piece. It's a plant stand on a wide base, I painted it black and gave it a nice distressed finish. I just love how this piece turned out. I have also brought in some fun small mammy brooms too. They are a great shelf setter and only $5.00. You just never know what I'll bring in next so stop in soon!
Grace'n blessings~ Kendra
